As the founder of Adventure with Coffee, he explores how storytelling brings people together, sharing personal insights and lessons from his RV life and US culture.
Tyler’s work extends to empowering aspiring creatives, authors, and entrepreneurs through workshops and mentorship programs, helping them develop social media strategies, craft compelling personal brands, and build engaged communities. A champion of mental health advocacy, Tyler has spoken on panels addressing mental health, storytelling, and diversity in fiction, encouraging open conversations and personal growth.
From his leadership as the former president of the North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce to his role as a digital marketing expert, Tyler fosters authentic connections that inspire success. Beyond his professional life, Tyler is a husband, uncle, dog dad, and lifelong learner committed to empowering others to rise from challenges and share their stories authentically. His journey celebrates resilience, creativity, and the power of connection.
As a mentor, what I’m looking for most is a relationship built on openness, trust, and mutual growth. I don’t believe mentorship is about one person standing above the other, it’s about walking alongside each other. My ideal mentee is someone who shows up with curiosity, honesty, and the courage to ask questions, try, fail, and try again. That willingness to engage and be real means more than any polished answer.
I approach mentorship much like I do teaching and coaching: creating a supportive environment where people can find their own voice and direction while knowing they’re not alone in the process. At myVA Rocks, I guided aspiring virtual assistants through professional development, offering both weekly feedback and encouragement. At Tea With Coffee Media, I worked closely with authors, helping them build confidence in their writing and marketing skills while protecting the integrity of their voices. In both spaces, I saw how important it is for a mentor to both challenge and support and to push when it’s needed, but also to stand still with someone when that’s what the moment calls for.
I also recognize that growth rarely happens in a single exchange. Sometimes it takes multiple rounds of feedback, or coming back to a conversation after life and perspective have shifted. I’m more than willing to offer that, whether it’s extra editing rounds, another conversation, or just a listening ear. What matters to me is helping someone discover their strengths, confront challenges, and learn to carry their own confidence into whatever comes next.
At the end of the day, mentorship isn’t about me. It’s about building someone else up so they can carve their path forward. If I can play even a small role in helping a mentee find clarity, resilience, or direction, then I’ll consider it time well spent.
I’m looking for both YA and Adult manuscripts, and I’m especially drawn to stories that carry emotional weight and leave readers thinking long after the last page.
What I’m Excited to See:
- Contemporary Romance – Give me heartfelt, character-driven romances that focus on emotional connection and growth rather than explicit intimacy. I’m partial to fade-to-black or subtle romance, where the spotlight stays on the development of the relationship.
- Literary Fiction – I’m always pulled toward thoughtful, layered narratives that dig into complex emotions and the human condition. If your story weaves in themes of mental health, resilience, or finding light in the shadows, that’s an instant draw for me.
- Suspense / Psychological Thrillers – I love tension that lingers and stories that keep me questioning characters’ choices and motives. Deep dives into psychology, moral gray areas, and slow-burn tension are exactly what I’m looking for.
- Nonfiction – I’m also open to well-crafted nonfiction this year, particularly works that shine a light on mental health, resilience, or personal transformation. Insightful storytelling that feels raw, honest, and impactful is always welcome.
Some of My Inspirations:
To Kill a Mockingbird, A Clockwork Orange, 1984, Summer of the Monkeys, Freak the Mighty, the Brothers Grimm, Charles Bukowski, Stephen King, and Raymond Carver. If your manuscript captures even a thread of these tones, I want to read it.
Hard Passes / Not the Best Fit:
- Erotica or manuscripts that heavily rely on graphic sex scenes (I love erotica, however I don’t see it as one of my strengths and would not want to not fully be able to give this mentorship my best).
- Poetry (while I love reading and writing it, I’m not the right fit for this because I believe in the vulnerability and rawness of poetry that is individual to each poet).
- Strong No: I will not consider works with child abuse, infant harm, child sexual abuse, or child rape.
If your manuscript dives deep into emotions, tackles mental health with care, or delivers suspenseful tension alongside unforgettable characters, I’d love to hear from you.
