WriteHive Mentorship Program

Holly Ash is a science fiction author with eight books currently published. Her stories tend to focus on environmental themes. She prides herself on writing smart, sassy female characters that she wished she could have found in books while growing up. She has worked for the last eighteen years as an Environmental Engineer after receiving degrees in Environmental Science and English Literature from Central Michigan University. Holly lives in the metro Detroit area with her husband and two tiny people who constantly want her to do things for them.

I’d love to work with someone that wants to get into the details of the story with me. I love having discussions about story and character development and ways to help big and small moments in the story have the biggest impact for the reader. I like to give inline notes about what works and what is missing the mark, as well as reader experience notes. I like working with people who are open to suggestions and feedback. If you spend more time defending the story instead of being open to exploring things from a different perspective to see if it opens new ideas, we probably won’t be a good match. I never expect mentees to take all of my suggestions but approaching them with an open mind is essential. My goal is always to make your story as strong as possible while maintaining your vision and voice.
