It’s finally here! Our first WriteHive Anthology! We are so excited to showcase our talented writing community through superb storytelling. Since our open call, we’ve received numerous submissions, and narrowing them down was so so difficult. A huge thank you to everyone who submitted!
Our first anthology comes directly from our goal as an organization: to write the future we need, because our world is in dire need of change. Thus, each of the stories will feature the theme of Navigating Ruins.
Allow me to introduce you to our anthology authors!
Anna Ziegelhof (she/her)
Anna is a writer of genre fiction based in Northern California, focused on creating hope-forward, compassion-forward science fiction and horror stories. Most recently, her stories have appeared in The Future Fire, Short Edition, and on the Tales to Terrify podcast. You can find Anna on Twitter and Istagram.
Tim Kane (he/him)
Tim loves things that creep and crawl. His first published book is non-fiction, The Changing Vampire of Film and Television, tracing the history of vampires in television and movies. Most recently published stories appear in Exchange Students, Lovecraftia, Attach of the Killer. . . and ProleSCARYet. Find Tim on his website, Twitter, and Instagram.
Isabel Huntoon (she/her)
Isabel is a new, not-traditionally-published author of speculative fiction. She graduated university with a degree in English Creative Writing, and is now writing the kind of stories she wishes a young Isabel could have read. Her greatest goal for her work is to remind readers that even one person can have a dramatic impact on the world, and that choosing kindness can be a radical act. You can find Isabel on Twitter and Instagram.
A’liya Spinner (she/her & he/him)
A’liya Spinner is a non-binary activist, author, and aspiring paleogeneticist. She is a proud justice educator and a learner in her local and online communities, and her creative works have been published in various locations. Most importantly, his favorite dinosaur is the Allosaurus fragilis. Talk about magpies, dinos, and queerness with him on her Twitter or Instagram.
Greg Glanz (he/him)
Greg is a homebrewer and biking enthusiast. Surprisingly, they go exceedingly well together as more and more microbrews chase bicyclists across the trails. In his spare time, of which there is plenty right now, he is an IT consultant in central Iowa. He can be found on Twitter or Facebook.
Callum Rowland (he/him)
Callum is a writer and co-founder of charity publisher TL;DR Press. He writes across all genres, although sci-fi, fantasy, and horror are closest to his heart. When not writing, he can be found sketching or chipping away at the ever growing to-be-read pile of books stacked around the house. He can be found on Twitter.
Lamont Turner (he/him)
Lamont is a New Orleans area writer and father of four whose work has appeared in numerous print and online venues, most recently in The Half that You See and Good Southern Witches anthologies. Lamont can be found on Twitter, and has a Facebook group called The Haunt of Lamont! where he posts links to his latest projects.
A. J. Van Belle (they/them)
A. J. writes genre-bending fiction and works as a biology professor and molecular geneticist. When not writing stories or code, they explore the woods with their two dogs and invite their husband and teenage daughter to listen to the plot twists simmering in their brain. Their profession as a molecular biologist informs their WH anthology story’s use of DNA sequencing for victim identification. You can find them on Twitter and Instagram.
