Carly Hayward, one of our Editor in Residence in our WriteHive community, now has a new package available for marginalized individuals within the writing community. Marginalized writers often encounter more, greater, paywalls and obstacles when seeking publication.
“Writing fiction is one of the best ways to spread empathy and understanding. Authors from marginalized communities deserve to be heard and to have their place in publishing.”
In talking to Carly, she tells us that, “As a disable editor, I have come up against obstacles (along with a ton of privilege from being a white cis-woman) in the publishing industry. I have seen the industry from lots of different angles, and I know that diversity is severely lacking. I want to use my experience to boost as many marginalized voices as possible.”
The Light Up Voices Package includes a 50 page evaluation, a list of next steps, and a 30 minute coaching call. It will be raffled off to one author each month. All applicants must be from BIPOC, LGBTQ+, disabled, or other historically marginalized communities, though the work does not have to be OwnVoices. This is an amazing opportunity, please don’t hesitate to chek it out!
