If you are looking at the program its because you know your story isn’t ready, and that is OK. That’s not a bad thing to know, it helps you understand your story craft and identify how to be a better writer. I work with a lot of neurodivergent writers and we’re after the “click” moment of a story to work out why it isn’t working, and how we fix it.

Sometimes that can mean digging deep to the heart of a story to make sure what’s on the page is a true reflection of your vision. We’ll go over the story, and meet to talk about it, develop a plan to tackle the relevant issues, and in the end I give you in script comments, along with a deep edit letter, and then we usually have another catch up to talk it through.

If you want to do that kind of work, I want to help you and your novel, and teach you tools for the next novel and all the stories to come.

This year I am looking for something upbeat. We live in very dark times and I’d love to see more humor in the fantasy/scifi arena. A lot of it tends to be very grim, and I’m all for grim, but I’d love to see some laughter too.

I’m only open to adult and to some extent NA/YA. But not very YA/Middle/Children.

My yes genres are;

  • Fantasy
  • Scifi
  • Paranormal
  • Thriller
  • Suspense
  • Horror
  • Mystery
  • and of course Romance

My absolute no genres;

  • Contemporary
  • Literary
  • Western (unless an alt setting like western in space)
  • and religious fiction

I have a very hard pass on any unnecessary violence towards women and prefer content warnings for anything graphic on the page. I’m also seeing a revival in “Roman/British Empire” retellings/alternative settings and that’s a hard pass.

Give me your quirky ND grumpy and sunshine set on a solar farm. Cozy solar punk would be an absolute delight to work with. Any ND characters are hard to nail that narrative voice and I would love to help.

Submit a story that’s not in your face gore but a subtle horror that sneaks up on the reader. Its hard to pull those nail biting moments out and sometimes those are the best stories to work on.

Enter your weird fiction about impossible breakfasts and demons who drop by for sandwiches and keep angels out of your day job. There are some stories that feel so random, and you question whether anyone will find it funny. We’re here to help those stories be what you are envisioning.
